He previously trained with Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse and with William Ball at American Conservatory Theatre, and has advanced degrees from San Francisco State University. He teaches and directs globally, with engagements including The Colorado Shakespeare Festival (Measure for Measure), New York Stage and Film (Painted From Memory), and Hong Kong (Ancient History and A Streetcar Named Desire).
Scott’s Impulse Company has moved into international work, with the creation of Impulse Company Australia (alongside Erica Chestnut and Kate Skinner), as well as regular teaching all over the world. Scott is on the faculty of Kadir Has University in Istanbul and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and conducts intensive workshops from Tokyo to France to New York City.
Scott's distilled, joyous and passionate approach to actor training leaves his students inspired and transformed. He is one of the remaining few with the direct Sanford Meisner lineage, and offers a unique perspective and approach to inspire, deepen and broaden the skills of today's actor.

In 2003 I completed my first week-long course in London with Scott and it was the most stimulating and enlightening week of training I’d ever had. Scott steered my process in a whole new - and easier, simpler, honest - direction. In May of this year I returned to London and straight away sought to work with Scott again. He remains a joyous human being, a clear and thorough teacher, and once again I found myself leaving class each day on a high.
